Phantom Blade Zero has four endings in its release version, and the outcome is determined by optional content completed before the finale. A guide from KeenGamer identifies the endings as Final Battle, Annihilation, Long’s Roar and Undying Grudge, while warning that the true ending can be missed.
Three endings are decided after the fights against Leng Tu and Meng Hua at Mount Soulrend. The game checks the player’s completed side Tales, optional boss encounters and key-item requirements at that point. Undying Grudge follows a separate route in 66 Days mode and does not use the same Mount Soulrend requirements.
How the four endings are triggered
| Ending | Requirement | Reward or trophy information |
|---|---|---|
| Final Battle | All true-ending requirements | With Heart and Blood |
| Long’s Roar | All requirements except the Long Pillars | All Dreams Must End |
| Annihilation | Other requirements are missing | All Dreams Must End |
| Undying Grudge | The 66 Days counter reaches zero | No ending-specific trophy listed |
For the complete Final Battle route, players must finish every purple-icon Tale in the Story menu, clear all five Long Pillars, defeat Zhu Yuan and Bi Feng, and complete Quick Hand Zhang’s requests before passing the The Last Chance bell. Gold-icon quests are part of the main story and are completed during the normal campaign, but the purple Tales are the optional objectives that count toward the true ending.
- Complete every purple Tale before progressing past the guide’s listed point of no return.
- Clear all five Long Pillars.
- Defeat Zhu Yuan and Bi Feng.
- Finish Quick Hand Zhang’s requests before passing The Last Chance bell.
When those conditions are met, Zuo Shang appears after the Meng Hua encounter and pulls Soul into one final duel. Final Battle is the only ending that counts as the true ending. Completing it awards the With Heart and Blood Gold trophy along with the Aureate main weapon, Broken Long Body, Radiant Heart and the Legacy outfit.
What carries over to the ending routes
The guide identifies two points of no return and recommends checking optional objectives before advancing through them. It also notes that all three Mount Soulrend endings award All Dreams Must End, the Gold trophy for defeating Meng Hua. The Hunt and Kindred outfits unlock after finishing the main story.
S-GAME had discussed eight endings before launch, but the release version contains four named endings. Players seeking all four should therefore track the purple Tales, Long Pillars, optional bosses and request chains during the campaign, then use 66 Days mode separately for Undying Grudge. The guide includes a spoiler warning because the ending explanations name late-game bosses and reveal what happens to Soul.
