Xsolla has announced an acquisition of GamePix, a platform that publishes and distributes video games through web browsers.

GamePix has a catalog of more than 10,000 games and a community of over 4,000 development studios and individual developers, according to the company. The acquisition will bring the platform into Xsolla’s billing and monetization infrastructure, which operates across more than 200 markets.

Browser distribution and payments

GamePix was founded in 2013 by Edouard Wawra, Valerio Pullano and Justine Silipo. The company began when browser games were largely built with Flash and later adapted its technology for HTML5, WebGL and WebGPU.

Its services include publishing, software development kit integration, quality testing, distribution and monetization. GamePix also operates technology designed to adapt PC and mobile games made with Unity or C++ so they can run in browsers. The company says those browser versions can have loading sizes up to 90% smaller while retaining the same game experience and avoiding an installation.

  • GamePix has more than 10,000 games in its catalog.
  • The platform works with over 4,000 studios and individual developers.
  • Xsolla’s infrastructure provides access to more than 1,000 payment methods.

Xsolla said the integration will give development studios access to more than 1,000 payment methods. Players will also be able to use one user identity across GamePix’s website, applications and games.

Support for AI-assisted games

The companies also highlighted games made with artificial intelligence. GamePix is positioning its publishing, distribution and billing tools as a single route to market for developers using those technologies, alongside creators from larger studios and the mobile sector.

Chris Hewish, president of Xsolla, said the web’s open nature makes it possible to reach players across different types of games and development teams. Edouard Wawra, GamePix’s co-founder and CEO, described the acquisition as a way to connect the platform’s browser distribution services with Xsolla’s payment and monetization systems.

The announced transaction leaves GamePix’s existing browser-focused catalog and developer network as the central parts of the platform being brought into Xsolla’s business. The companies presented the combination as covering publishing, distribution, payments and player identity in one system.
