Netflix is developing a live-action series based on PUBG, with Donald Glover attached to direct, write, executive produce and star. His brother, Stephen Glover, will also write and executive produce the project.
The series brings the brothers back together after their work on FX’s Atlanta, which Donald Glover created and starred in while Stephen Glover wrote and executive produced across all four seasons. Their other collaborations include Amazon’s Swarm and the musical film Guava Island. Stephen Glover also wrote for Donald Glover’s Amazon series Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
KRAFTON will help produce the adaptation
KRAFTON’s entertainment subsidiary, LV3H, is involved in the series’ development and production. Taeseok Jang and Sujin Lee will executive produce for LV3H. The wider producing team also includes Michael Schaefer of Neon TV and Fam Udeorji of Gilga.

Deadline first reported the project after lengthy negotiations. Netflix is adding the series to its expanding group of video game adaptations, though the PUBG project is being developed from a property with little established narrative beyond its competitive premise.
PUBG launched in 2017 under the full name PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. In its matches, players land on one of several maps, search for weapons, vehicles and equipment, and compete until one player or team remains. The game has earned seven Guinness World Records, according to the project’s reported background.
That structure leaves the television series’ story to be developed by its writers rather than adapted from a campaign or a defined cast of game characters. Plot details for the Netflix production are being kept under wraps, and the project has no announced release window in the information currently available.
The live-action series is not the only PUBG screen project associated with Netflix. An animated adaptation involving Castlevania executive producer Adi Shankar was previously announced, although its current status remains unclear. Donald Glover also has an existing connection to a major game property: he voices Yoshi in the animated Super Mario Galaxy film.
