FromSoftware’s Elden Ring has generated roughly $2 billion in lifetime revenue, according to new estimates published Oct. 22 by analytics firm Alinea Analytics.
Sales and revenue breakdown
Alinea’s estimate, published in its Alinea Insight newsletter, places total sales at about 36.4 million copies across PC, PlayStation and Xbox platforms. The analyst firm attributed roughly 50% of sales to Steam, 35% to PlayStation 5 and 15% to Xbox platforms.
- Estimated lifetime revenue: $2 billion
- Estimated copies sold: 36.4 million
- Platform share (sales): Steam ~50%, PS5 ~35%, Xbox ~15%
Alinea noted a difference between platform share of sales and contribution to revenue: PlayStation and Xbox combined account for an estimated 57.5% of total revenue, a gap the analysis attributed in part to regional pricing disparities that reduce average revenue per copy in some markets.
Recent performance and player engagement
The newsletter estimates Elden Ring sold about 2 million additional copies in 2026, generating nearly $110 million during the year. Alinea’s analysis also includes engagement figures, estimating that about 9.8 million players have spent more than 100 hours in the game and that nearly 3.5 million players have unlocked every achievement or trophy.
Those continued sales are on top of FromSoftware’s official milestone: the studio announced more than 30 million units shipped worldwide by March 2025.
Context
Elden Ring launched in February 2022 and received widespread critical and commercial acclaim. The game’s long tail of sales and persistent player engagement have made it a standout example of sustained performance for a single-player, premium RPG release.
