Bandai Namco has announced Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 3 for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. The free-to-play tactical team combat game was revealed during the publisher’s Gundam Games 40th Anniversary livestream on Wednesday.
The sequel will support cross-play between PlayStation 5 and PC. Bandai Namco has not announced a release date, but it did provide an initial look at the game through an announcement trailer shown during the livestream.
Combined mobile suit and infantry combat
Battle Operation 3 retains the series’ focus on team-based battles in which players serve as mercenary pilots. The combat will combine fights in Mobile Suits with operations carried out on foot, allowing players to leave their machines to complete battlefield tasks.
- Players can plant bombs at enemy bases and capture battlefield objectives.
- Support fire can be requested during matches.
- Infantry actions and Mobile Suit combat are designed to work together as part of team strategy.
The game will feature an expanded roster drawn from multiple Gundam series. The launch lineup will include Mobile Suits from the Universal Century timeline and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED. Bandai Namco also said additional series are planned for future updates, with units including the BuCUE set to join the roster as it grows.
New combat systems and presentation updates
Bandai Namco is introducing individual SP Skills for every Mobile Suit. The sequel will also add a Battle Assist feature intended to make complicated maneuvers and combos easier to execute.
Other announced changes include a redesigned user interface, more detailed Mobile Suit models and updated 3D environments. The trailer showed the sequel’s expanded combat systems and its roster of Mobile Suits.
Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 3 is in development for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. Its release date and further launch details have not been announced.
