Blizzard has released the Overwatch Season 5 mid-season update, adding a new group of hero balance changes alongside crossover content based on Stellar Blade. The patch arrives as the season’s Reign of Talon storyline approaches its conclusion and includes adjustments to tanks, damage heroes and other parts of the roster.
The update changes how several abilities function. D.Mon’s Power Barrier now takes 0.3 seconds to recover, up from 0.2 seconds, and the ability has a minimum deployment duration of 0.25 seconds. Her Propulsors’ impact damage has been reduced from 15 to 0. The Major Perk for Overstrike also has a lower lifesteal value, falling from 150% to 125%.
Junker Queen receives increased survivability in the standard mode, with base health rising from 375 to 425. Her base health also increases from 450 to 500 in 6v6. In that mode, Carnage’s cooldown is reduced from 9 seconds to 7 seconds. Commanding Shout also gains a new user-interface element that tracks allies within range and those currently affected by the ability.
- D.Mon’s Power Barrier has a longer recovery time and a minimum deployment duration.
- Propulsors’ impact damage is reduced to zero, while Overstrike’s Major Perk has less lifesteal.
- Junker Queen gains health, and her 6v6 Carnage cooldown is shorter.
The balance pass follows changes made earlier in the season, including adjustments related to projectile sizes. Blizzard also increased Reaper’s base health because the hero’s larger model makes him easier to hit under those changes. Illari’s primary-fire charge time is reduced, while her Healing Pylon restores more health. Ana’s Biotic Grenade is reduced again, and Anran’s primary fire receives a damage increase.
Stellar Blade crossover adds five skins
The update introduces a collaboration with Shift Up’s Stellar Blade. The crossover assigns five Overwatch heroes to characters from the action game: Widowmaker becomes EVE, D.Va becomes Lily, Vendetta takes the role of Tachy, Soldier: 76 is styled as Adam and Freja appears as Raven.
D.Va’s Lily outfit is identified as an Ultra skin and includes custom kill effects. The collaboration also includes first- and third-person reactivity, while D.Va’s mech is based on Providence, the final boss from Stellar Blade. The crossover content is scheduled to appear in Overwatch’s in-game shop.
Roadhog receives his first Mythic skin
Roadhog’s first Mythic skin, Necrotic Knight, is part of the mid-season release. The skin has four upgrade levels. Its customization options include helmet designs inspired by skull, knight and plague-doctor imagery, additional color palettes and visual effects involving ethereal skulls, claws, spectral flames and smoke. The final level also changes the appearance of ability effects.
The mid-season patch is part of the closing stretch of Season 5’s Reign of Talon narrative. Doomfist has returned to the storyline, which is moving toward its final confrontation before Overwatch begins a new narrative in February. Blizzard’s update leaves the season with another content drop still planned for later in 2026.
