Season 2 Act 1 has been announced, with the 5th duelist to be introduced in the game, Yoru, along with buffs to Brimstone, and nerfs to the Omen and the Classic.

Yoru has been revealed in the past week, with skills that involve stealth and teleportation. His kit has allows for a lot of outplays with misdirection and deception, and will definitely be annoying to deal with. His skills are as follows:

Brimstone Buffs

With Omen being the premiere smoke agent for the length of Season 1, Brimstone has not seen much play in competitive. His buffs for Season 2 look to have him viable – with buffs to his smoke, cheaper mollies, and faster stim beacons.

Stim Beacon
Will now quick cast (no equip time)

Cost reduced: $300 >>> $200

Sky Smokes
Cast range increased: 4200 >>> 5000 Smoke duration increased:14.25 >>> 19.25

Brimstone no longer makes a sound that enemies can hear when confirming the location of his smokes

Omen Nerfs

With Omen being a must-pick agent in every map, Riot is bringing some nerfs to his abilities. Paranoia is now twice as expensive, which will make Omen players use it more sparingly. Dark cover now moves slower, which implies Omen’s control needs more time to set up.

Cost increased: $200 >>> $400

Dark Cover
Projectile speed decreased: 4000 >>> 2800

Classic Alt Fire Nerfs

The Classic is notorious for being such a lethal gun in close range. Patch 1.4 has already nerfed running and jumping with the classic, but it wasn’t enough (I’m sure I’m not the only one frustrated dying from a jumping Classic).

  • Jumping error increased: .4 >>> 1.0
  • Increased input queue on right-click: 0.065 >>> .225
  • Firing consecutively now jumps in error, starting at 1.9 for the first burst, 2.5 for the second, and then the third/fourth burst will be at a 6.0
  • Right-click now has a recovery curve starting at .1s

This means that jump shots now have a slight delay, and has a wider spread. Additionally, firing quickly will make the spread worse for each consecutive shot.

Competitive Updates

  • New Competitive regional leaderboards
This is for the Radiant (top 500 players) and Immortal (now top 1% bracket) in each region.
  • Rank system updated, including rank progress bar, numerical progress, and further distribution changes to make it easier to climb out of the lower ranks
Instead of the mystery arrows, we’re now getting clearer progress bars (+10 to 50 points for a win, max 30 points for a loss, max 20 points for a draw depending on performance)
  • Immortal and Radiant ranks are now capped at a premade size of two
  • New ranked rewards for Episode 1 (pair of Gun Buddies based on your highest Act Rank achieved during Episode 1)

Riot is definitely looking into making every agent viable, with the buffs to Viper previously, as well as the nerfs to Omen. It’s exciting to see what Season 2 will offer to the players!
