As excited about Pokémon as me? Pokémon had a Press Conference today and here’s what you missed.
Prospective New Board Member added: Hiro Matsuoka
Matsuoka announced his membership today (pending approval tomorrow), talked about the success of the Detective Pikachu movie and slid in an ad for the new Godzilla movie. (Much to Ishihara’s dismay)
Detective Pikachu Sequel in the works:
While the Detective Pikachu movie had an ending, the game counterpart ended with a cliffhanger. The game’s story will be concluded in Detective Pikachu 2 on the Nintendo Switch and Ishihara is excited for players to see a different take on the story’s ending.
New Pokémon Center in Shibuya Parco:
President of Pokémon Center Co.Ltd, Yoriomi Uego announced the launch of a new Pokémon Center in Shibuya Parco. This new center sports a new concept adorned with a Mewtwo pod in the entrance. The center opens in Fall 2019 alongside Nintendo Tokyo.
NetEase publishes Pokémon Quest in China:
Ethan Wang from NetEase announced the publishing of Pokémon Quest in China. NetEase will be adding PvP and Social systems to localize it for China. NetEase also looks forward to publishing more Pokémon games in China.
Cloud Service – Pokémon Home:
Junichi Masuda from Game Freak announced the development of Pokémon Home, a Cloud service hub for Pokémon from all generations of games to be housed.
The service connects with Pokémon Bank, Pokémon GO, Pokémon Let’s Go and the upcoming Pokémon Sword and Shield. Take note the arrows only go both ways for Sword and Shield. Don’t expect to get your Pokémon back if you send them from elsewhere to the Home.
Pokémon Home will, however, have the trading function, so you can trade from Home to Home. Pokémon Home will launch Early 2020.
Sleep becomes Entertainment:
Pokémon Sleep was also announced after an elaborate trailer celebrating the accomplishments of Pokémon Go. Pokémon Sleep’s concept is for players to look forward to waking up every day. Not much more information was released yet. Pokémon Sleep is slated to release in 2020.
New Device – Pokémon Go Plus+:
Kazuhiro Maruyama from Nintendo was excited to announce a new product to work in conjuction with Pokemon Sleep. Pokémon Go Plus+ will have the functionality of tracking your sleep activity for your rewards.
The Pokemon Go Plus+ will still have full functionality of the Pokémon Go Plus. It will NOT have the features of the Pokéball Plus.
New Pokémon Go Event: Snorlax invades
John Hanke from Niantic was the bearer of good news for players of Pokémon Go. In conjunction with the announcement for Pokémon Sleep, Pokémon Go released a whole bunch of Snorlax into the wild for trainers to catch.
Niantic will also be working closely with the Pokémon Company to encourage a healthy sleep cycle in the future.
New Mobile Gacha App – Pokémon Masters:
DeNA are still working on the Pokémon Masters App as we speak, but the App will drop into the Google Play Store and the App Store in 2019. More details will be released in June 2019.
Original Stitch’s Pokémon Shirts:
North America and Europe will finally be able to get their hands on the sleekly designed Pokémon Shirts. These designs are not too loud and are most definitely suitable for use in the workplace.
