According to newly revealed documents in the FTC v. Microsoft case, it has been discovered that ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda Game Studios and id Software, was working on remasters of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Fallout 3, and a new entry in the Doom franchise before its acquisition by Microsoft. These plans were outlined in a July 2020 Microsoft presentation about the potential ZeniMax acquisition.
The presentation included the following unannounced games: The Oblivion remaster, Doom Year Zero and DLC, a second set of DLC, the Fallout 3 remaster, a sequel to Ghostwire: Tokyo, and Dishonored 3. Additionally, there were several titles for console/PC without specific names, including the Indiana Jones game, Project Kestrel, an expansion for Project Kestrel, Project Platinum, and a licensed IP game.
It’s important to note that these plans were estimates from over three years ago and before Microsoft’s acquisition of ZeniMax in March 2021. Therefore, there is a possibility that some of these plans have changed or been abandoned entirely. However, they provide an early glimpse into the potential games that Microsoft has in store for the future.
In addition to the game leaks, the documents also revealed details about a disc-less Xbox Series X redesign, a refreshed Xbox Series S, and a new “Sebile” Xbox controller.
