According to leaked documents in the ongoing case between Microsoft and the Federal Trade Commission, it seems that The Elder Scrolls 6 won’t be releasing until 2026 at the earliest, and it may not be available on PlayStation at all. The documents, shared by The Verge, appear to be a presentation titled “Microsoft’s approach following acquisitions since 2018” and include information about Bethesda games and their exclusivity.
The entry for The Elder Scrolls 6 in the document states that its release date is “TBC, but expected 2026 or later,” and interestingly, there is no mention of PlayStation as one of the available platforms. This aligns with previous knowledge that the game is still quite far off. In fact, a Microsoft lawyer’s accidental mention of “Elder Scrolls 16” pointing to a 2026 release further supports this idea.
The document also reinforces fears among PlayStation and Bethesda fans that The Elder Scrolls 6 won’t be coming to PlayStation consoles. Although there hasn’t been explicit confirmation from Microsoft’s Phil Spencer or Todd Howard of Bethesda, the release of Redfall and Starfield on exclusive platforms has raised concerns.
It’s important to note that The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced at E3 2018, but Todd Howard later mentioned that the game was still in the design phase. It wasn’t until August 2021 that it finally moved beyond pre-production.
While it’s disappointing for PlayStation users, there is still time to save up for a console, as the release date is several years away. Alternatively, PC gamers can look forward to the best version of the game, as is often the case with Bethesda titles.
