The 2023 World Championship Update: League of Legends Patch 13.19

The highly-anticipated update for the 2023 World Championship has arrived. League of Legends Patch 13.19 is set to shape the pro play metagame for the next two months. The update includes various changes to champions and items, with the aim of balancing the game and ensuring an exciting competitive scene.

Riot Games, the developers of League of Legends, have focused on a select group of champions that they want to see the top players pick up during the World Championship in South Korea. This includes champions such as Gangplank, Galio, Syndra, Pyke, Lee Sin, and Jhin. Additionally, the developers have made tweaks to certain items, particularly Randuin’s Omen, to counter the potential dominance of characters like Tristana in the mid lane.

One exciting addition to the game for Halloween is the introduction of six La Ilusión skins, inspired by the traditions of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). These skins feature skulls, marigold flowers, and other elements associated with this Mexican holiday.

The League Patch 13.19 is set to go live on Wednesday, September 27th, giving players a couple of weeks to familiarize themselves with the changes before the World Championship begins. However, players should expect some server downtime as matchmaking will be disabled three hours before the update is officially implemented.

Patch 13.19 is crucial for the World Championship as it sets the stage for the tournament, ensuring the metagame is balanced and appealing to both players and viewers. Riot Games uses the World Championship as an opportunity to showcase the game’s competitive scene, making each year’s update essential for the success of the event.

In terms of champion changes, the update includes buffs for Syndra, Pyke, Lissandra, Lee Sin, Jhin, Gangplank, Galio, Twitch, Nunu, and Ziggs. Only three champions, namely Rek’Sai, Renekton, and Zeri, will receive nerfs due to their perceived power. Riot Games is also focusing on champions like Akali, Orianna, Gnar, Aatrox, Caitlyn, and Kai’Sa, monitoring them for potential adjustments if necessary.

Additionally, Randuin’s Omen will receive a significant buff to counter Tristana’s dominance in the mid lane. Riot hopes that this item adjustment will provide a suitable answer to the double crit carry compositions featuring Tristana.

The inclusion of Día de los Muertos-inspired La Ilusión skins adds a festive touch to the update. These skins, for six different champions, incorporate the traditional designs associated with the Mexican holiday.

With Patch 13.19, Riot Games aims to create an exciting and balanced gameplay experience for both pro players and the wider League of Legends community. The update represents a crucial step in preparing for the highly anticipated 2023 World Championship.
