Streamer Gets Permanently Banned in Counter Strike 2 for Using Console Command

Counter Strike 2 (CS2) is highly anticipated as one of the biggest video game releases of 2023. While the official release date is still unknown, the beta version has already resulted in some surprising bans. One particularly amusing ban occurred when a streamer attempted to get banned by using a console command.

Streamer Poggu, known for his presence in the Counter Strike community, saw an opportunity in a tweet by Don Hac1 warning about people getting banned for using a console command. This particular command allowed players to instantly turn 180 degrees with the press of a button. Instead of heeding the warning, Poggu decided to have some fun and livestreamed his attempt to get banned in the CS2 Limited Test.

Incredibly, it only took Poggu 18 minutes to accomplish his goal. His game suddenly shut down, and he was met with a “global cooldown” banner at the top of the main menu. In the stream, Poggu jokingly referred to it as being “permanently untrusted.” However, former Community moderator ianskate revealed that these untrusted bans would ultimately be converted into Valve Anti Cheat (VAC) bans, which cannot be uplifted.

Poggu’s Steam profile now displays a “game ban” from three days ago, which is expected to turn into a VAC ban. Interestingly, the ban occurred shortly after Poggu typed in the chat that he was “cheating,” prompting one of his friends to report him. This suggests that VAC had detected abnormal behavior during Poggu’s fast flicking and was waiting for a report to verify it.

Poggu took the ban in stride and even posted a humorous video on TikTok, featuring a sped-up version of Tom Odell’s “Another Love” as background music. The video includes a “fly high Poggu” banner throughout, adding humor to the situation. However, the consequences are not so funny for Poggu, as his account with over 3000 hours of playtime is now permanently banned, along with his valuable inventory of chests, skins, and stickers.

This incident serves as a reminder to not engage in cheating, exploiting, or using suspicious commands in CS2. Valve’s Anti Cheat system is vigilant and will impose severe consequences. It’s important to play by the rules and enjoy the game without risking permanent bans and loss of valuable items.
