In the first half of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s expansion, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, players are introduced to a new region called Kitakami, where the inhabitants revere a trio of Pokemon known as The Loyal Three. However, as the story unfolds, players discover the truth behind the legend and the misunderstood Pokemon named Ogerpon. The DLC contains hints for future content, and fans have noticed a potential connection to an unannounced Legendary Pokemon.
According to a theory originating from a Japanese forum, the Loyal Three have a hidden master that bears similarities to a peach. In-game evidence and the Japanese legend’s inspiration behind the DLC’s lore support this theory. The Loyal Three are categorized as “Retainer Pokemon,” implying that they serve a more powerful entity represented by the purple chain-like details on their designs. However, the game does not explicitly reveal who this master is.
The Teal Mask’s story and its new Legendaries draw inspiration from the Japanese folk tale of Momotarō, also known as “Peach Boy.” In the legend, a boy is born from a peach and later goes on a journey to fight demons with the help of a talking dog, monkey, and pheasant. Although the legend differs from the storyline in The Teal Mask, the Pokemon in the DLC correlate with the creatures from Momotarō. Ogerpon represents the demons, while Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti represent the boy’s friends.
While there is no clear equivalent to Momotarō in the game, there are hints suggesting the existence of a peach-like figure associated with The Loyal Three. Some fans have proposed two potential explanations. One theory suggests that the Loyal Three’s master could be an evolution or Legendary relative of Glimmet and Glimmora, two Poison-type Pokemon with connections to the Terestal phenomenon. The other theory suggests that the in-game equivalent of Peach Boy might be Kieran, a young boy in the story, due to his strange behaviors and the events surrounding him.
The upcoming second half of the expansion, The Indigo Disk, which takes place at Blueberry Academy, where Carmine and Kieran attend school, will likely provide more information and potentially resolve these theories. Until then, fans eagerly await the release of The Indigo Disk to uncover the true connection between The Teal Mask and the potential “peach-like” Legendary.
