A new wave of leaked documents has revealed Microsoft’s upcoming plans for Xbox hardware, including a brand-new Xbox Wireless Controller with exciting features that may interest Sony PlayStation fans. This leaked controller, codenamed Sebile, is reported to be in development and is set to offer users a unique gaming experience.
In terms of design, the Sebile controller retains the familiar shape of previous Xbox One and Series X generations. However, the bottom half of the controller appears to feature a grippier material, while the top half maintains the traditional plastic finish. The share button has also been repositioned for ease of use.
The most significant changes can be found on the inside of the controller. The Sebile controller boasts “precision haptic feedback” drivers, replacing the conventional rumble functionality found in current Xbox controllers. These Voice-coil actuator (VCA) haptics not only provide enhanced feedback but can also serve as speakers, offering a more immersive gaming experience. In addition, the Sebile controller includes an accelerometer and quieter buttons/thumbsticks.
Sony’s PlayStation 5 DualSense controllers have heavily promoted haptic feedback for a more immersive gaming experience. With Microsoft also embracing this technology, it is likely that more titles will support the refined vibration tech, ultimately benefiting gamers across different platforms.
The leaked documents also provide details about additional features. The Sebile Xbox controller is expected to support Xbox Wireless 2, Direct-to-Cloud (possibly similar to Stadia controller), and Bluetooth 5.2. The removable battery compartment, a popular feature among gamers, will be making a return. Furthermore, the controller will introduce a new Lift to Wake feature and modular thumbsticks, which could potentially resolve the analog stick drift issue at a lower cost.
According to the leaked documents, the Sebile controller will be included with the newly refreshed Xbox Series X|S consoles. It is listed with a price tag of $69.99 and will be compatible with consoles, PC, and mobile devices. Special and limited edition versions of the controller are also being planned.
As the Microsoft and Sony console battle continues, these leaked documents offer a glimpse into the exciting developments in the gaming industry. Gamers can look forward to an enhanced gaming experience with the upcoming Xbox Wireless Controller, Sebile.
