Mortal Kombat 1’s Kenshi and the Potential for Deadly Mix-Ups

EG|SonicFox, the renowned competitive Mortal Kombat player, has already begun exploring the gameplay of Mortal Kombat 1, which officially releases on September 19. As one of the pre-orderers of the Premium Edition, SonicFox has shared an incredible tech involving blind swordsman Kenshi.

In a clip posted on SonicFox’s Twitter timeline, Kenshi demonstrates his ability to summon a ghost form of himself to assist him in battle. This technique allows Kenshi to perform a series of mix-ups, potentially leading to an unavoidable opening for an attack. By utilizing Mortal Kombat 1’s Kameo mechanic, where players can call in an assist from a secondary character, the fight becomes a challenging 3v1 scenario.

In the clip, SonicFox uses Darrius as the Kameo character. After initiating a few hits with Kenshi, SonicFox calls in Darrius and summons the ghost Kenshi to continue the onslaught. This combination of attacks creates four rapid-fire situations where the opponent must guess between blocking high, low, or blocking altogether to avoid taking damage.

The mix-up strategy becomes even more formidable when executed in the corner, leaving opponents trapped and vulnerable. Given SonicFox’s skill, dedication, and time for practice, it’s expected that even more devastating techniques will be discovered.

This clip showcases the depth and complexity of the gameplay in Mortal Kombat 1, and fans of the series are eagerly awaiting the official release to explore and master the game’s mechanics.
