Mortal Kombat 1 on Nintendo Switch: A Nightmare on Gaming Street

Mortal Kombat 1 has recently been released on Nintendo Switch, and while it looks stunning on other platforms such as PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, the Switch version seems to have taken a bit of a hit in terms of visuals. The character models, particularly Johnny Cage, have become unrecognizable and downright horrifying. The facial expressions are stiff, the skin looks unnaturally plastic, and the eyes… oh, the eyes. They are filled with horror and mystery, making it difficult to look away.

One particularly disturbing image circulating on social media is that of Mileena, whose eyes are filled with unimaginable horrors. However, her mouth and teeth still retain a terrifying appearance, albeit intentional rather than a result of poor graphics.

Unfortunately, it’s not just the visuals that are experiencing issues on the Nintendo Switch version. Some players have encountered performance problems, including the game unintentionally reverting to its 3D era and the screen turning black during certain Fatalities. This is a bit frustrating, especially considering that the Nintendo Switch version is already graphically inferior compared to other platforms.

PC players have also faced some performance issues, although not to the same extent as the Nintendo Switch version. Stuttering during story mode is a common problem, and the developers at NetherRealm are actively working on a permanent solution.

Despite these drawbacks, it is impressive that Mortal Kombat 1 can run on the relatively underpowered Nintendo Switch. However, sacrifices have been made, resulting in a version that can be described as nightmare fuel. Let’s hope the developers can address these issues and provide an improved experience for Nintendo Switch players.
