Knife Bug in CS2 Makes Breaking Vents Difficult in Nuke

CS2 players are facing a frustrating bug that is making their gameplay on Nuke more challenging. Breaking the A bombsite vent with a knife is not as straightforward as it is in CS:GO, causing players to struggle. Videos uploaded by two players in the past 24 hours demonstrate the flawed knife mechanics in breaking the vents. In one video, the player had to knife the vent three times and came close to losing their life in the process. In the second video, the player died before successfully breaking the vent.

Breaking the vent is essential for both Terrorists and Counter-Terrorists to execute strategies and make rotations. It allows Terrorists to gain a foothold in the B bomb site quickly, and it enables CTs on the A bombsite to make a swift rotation for a B bomb site retake. Therefore, the difficulty in breaking the vents is causing frustration among players.

The exact cause of the knife bug is still unclear, but players have proposed two theories. One theory suggests that the servers are failing to register the knife hits, while another theory suggests that the game produces knife sounds even when no contact is made. While the second theory seems likely, players have observed that their knife strikes appear to make contact with the vent. Some professionals have criticized CS2’s official servers for their 64-tick rate, raising the possibility that the knife hits are not being recognized by the servers.

As a temporary solution, players have suggested using pistols instead of knives to break the vents. This prevents enemies from getting easy kills that they shouldn’t have. It is evident that Valve needs to address this bug before the game is released worldwide.
