Cyberpunk 2077 fans are eagerly anticipating the upcoming Phantom Liberty expansion, but before that arrives, they can look forward to the game’s massive free Update 2.0. This update promises to transform the game and offer players an entirely new experience.
Update 2.0 goes beyond just adding new content. It includes significant overhauls to several of Cyberpunk 2077’s core systems, many of which will be available to all players, even those who don’t purchase the expansion. Let’s dive into the details of what you can expect from Cyberpunk 2077’s Update 2.0.
Redesigned Cyberware, Perks, Skills, and Relic Abilities
The perks and skill tree system in Update 2.0 are undergoing a complete redesign. This means that players will need to respec their characters, making it a great opportunity for a fresh playthrough from the beginning. The redesigned system introduces new abilities and refreshes existing ones, injecting excitement into character progression.
In addition to perks, a new progression system called Skills will be introduced. Instead of allocating points to skills, players will upgrade them by using corresponding playstyles. There are five skill categories to level up: Headhunter, Netrunner, Shinobi, Solo, and Engineer. Leveling up these skills will provide stat increases and extra perk points.
Cyberware is also receiving an overhaul. Players will no longer be limited by the number of slots per area but will have a maximum total capacity. Furthermore, the Relic ability tree, featuring the game’s most powerful abilities, will receive significant updates.
AI Combat Overhaul, Vehicle Combat, and Revamped Police
Combat in Cyberpunk 2077 will feel vastly different with Update 2.0 due to the addition of new abilities and playstyles. Vehicle combat will be introduced, allowing players to hack and shoot while driving. However, be prepared to face the consequences as vehicular crimes will attract the attention of the revamped police system.
The police will relentlessly chase players, similar to the wanted system in GTA, with their pursuit becoming more intense as the wanted level rises. At the highest level, players will encounter the ruthless MaxTac.
New Content: Quests, Weapons, Vehicles, and More
Update 2.0 brings a wealth of new content to Cyberpunk 2077 in addition to the revamped systems. Players can expect new weapons, quests, gigs, a new district, new Cyberware, and new cosmetic clothing items (armor is now added via Cyberware).
All of this exciting new content and gameplay changes will be available when Update 2.0 launches on September 21st.
