After announcing its intention to venture into esports last November, Asian mixed martial arts promoter ONE Championship has revealed the first events for its planned esports endeavor; ONE Esports. Several events involving games like Dota 2, Street Fighter V and Tekken 7 will be held starting October this year.
The Dota 2 World Invitational Events will be held in Singapore and Jakarta in December 2019 and April 2020 respectively. These will have US$500,000 prize pools each. In addition, a Tekken 7 and Street Fighter V tournament will be held in Tokyo this October, as part of ONE Championship’s 100th event.
ONE Esports also announced that former Battlefy executive Carlos Alimurung has been named CEO of ONE Esports, while PGL will act as a production partner.
